About Our Fragrances
Why does the colour of my fragrance sometimes look different from my last bottle?
Our fragrances are extrait de parfum - the highest concentration of perfume oil available, made with natural ingredients rather than synthetic fillers. Because of this, you may notice slight variations in colour from one batch to the next. This is completely normal and doesn't affect the scent, quality, or performance of your fragrance in any way. Natural ingredients like saffron, oud, and botanical extracts can vary subtly depending on their source and season - it's a sign of genuine, high-concentration perfumery, not an inconsistency to worry about.
How should I apply my fragrance for the best results?
Extrait de parfum is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way. For the best results:
- Apply to pulse points - wrists, neck, and behind the ears - where body heat helps the fragrance develop throughout the day
- Spray directly onto skin rather than clothing (see below)
- Avoid rubbing your wrists together after applying. This breaks down the top notes and can alter how the fragrance develops on your skin
- Reapply as needed - a light reapplication a few hours in is normal for extrait de parfum, especially in warmer weather
Can I spray it on my clothes?
We don't recommend spraying your fragrance directly onto clothing. Extrait de parfum is highly concentrated and can potentially mark or stain certain fabrics, particularly lighter colours and delicate materials. For best results and to protect your clothing, always apply to skin rather than fabric.

Returns & Refunds
Can I return an item if I've changed my mind?
If your item is completely unopened and unused, you're welcome to return it. The item must still have its original seal fully intact — every bottle leaves us in a white box sealed with a clear sticker, and this must be untouched for a return to be accepted.
What if my item arrives faulty?
If your item arrives faulty (for example, a broken or faulty sprayer), please let us know within 14 days of receiving your order so we can put things right.
Can I return an item once it's been opened or used?
Once an item has been opened or used, we're unable to accept a return. This is standard practice for fragrance and personal care products for hygiene reasons.
Can I return a bespoke order?
Bespoke orders are made specifically for you and are non-refundable, even if unopened — as a made-to-order item, it isn't part of our general stock and can't be resold.
How do I start a return?
Simply email us at shop@olfactology.co.uk and we'll take it from there.
